The castle of Compeyre, Compeyre. (4 images).

The castle and the calade and village. (4 images). A calade is, in the south of France, a street paved inclined of rollers of river or stones.
The village.

The castle of Compeyre of the 11th century, founded in 1077, is in fact the keep of an old fortress much vaster, mentioned in 1204.

During the One hundred Year old War, the castle of Compeyre was given to the English, after the signature of the treaty of Brétigny in 1360, treated which conceded almost all the south-west of France to England, and which allowed the release of king of France "Jean II le Bon", prisoner for four years in London, after his capture during the BATTLE and defeat of NOUAILLÉ-MAUPERTUIS close to Poitiers, on September 19th, 1356.
The fortress is taken again to the English, after a siege from June 22nd to July 17th, 1369.

One can also see, on the territory of the commune, the superb CHÂTEAU of CABRIÈRES of the 11th 12th centuries.

Compeyre is a french commune, located in the department of Aveyron of the Midi-Pyrénées area, populated of 492 Compeyrols in 1999, distributed, on 10 km², that is to say 47 hab./km².

The village is leant with causse of Sauveterre, at the entrance of the "Gorges du Tarn", canyon of the Tarn river.

Joel,
Nice shot of this fine castle. The vertical format works well showing the height of the castle while allowing us to see close up sharpness. The trees frame the scene nicely helping to focus our attention to the main subject. The lighting and colors are fine as is the photo's sharpness.
TFS,
Asa

Hello Joël,
Fine assembly work to produce this splendid composition. The textures are well rendered with superb detail. The grey stones make a pleasing contrast with the blue sky and surrounding greenery. Colours are natural and well lit. Excellent sharpness. Bravo!

Bonjour Joel

A great castle for us to admire. Fantastic architecture, great stonework. Excellent POV and the contrast against the blue sky is very nice. TFS

Bonne semaine,
Roger

Hello Joel,
Very nice work, the shot is well thought out and captured perfectly.
You've added the dressing well, the trees and shrubs contribute nicely to frame the castle and at the same time create additional dimension to the shot.
A very high quality capture, the sharps are exceptional and the exposure balance for the shaded and fully lit areas is precise.
An excellent presentation.
Regards
Peter

Hi Joël,
Very good weather this day, when we actually left the Cévennes to head back home... Unfortunately we could not see everything in just a few days, but this picture is still very good with a strong diagonal touch to the composition. But we´ll be back...
Kind regards
Gunnar

Dag Joel,

This a-typical castle is towering from the landscape, just as a castle ought to do.
Your low POV accentuate that perfectly. The sun and the blue sky do the rest to make this a attractive image.

Groet Rob

bonjour Joel

Hi Joel,
Another good chateau shot from you. Am I right in assuming that this one has been much renovated and is being lived in!
cheers
Ian

Amicalement
Jacques
