The Pont Vieux, the old bridge, of the 15th 16th centuries, which crosses Gartempe river, in Montmorillon. (3 images).

One sight.
Other sight.

Notre-Dame church of the 12th 14th centuries.

One can see in Montmorillon, the Notre-Dame church of the 12th 14th centuries, pressed on the crypt Sainte-Catherine, decorated murals of the end of the 12th century, and the chapel Saint-Laurent of the 12th century, like l'Octogone, chapel of cemetery of the 12th century presenting of old paintings on the veins of the vault.

These three monuments belong to the “Valley of the Frescos, "La Vallée des Fresques”.

The VALLEY of GARTEMPE RIVER concentrates from Saulgé to Saint-Savin, in Vienna, several builbings decorated with frescos of the 11th to 19th centuries, and is called for that, the FRESCOS VALLEY.

Gartempe is a river of Poitou and of the Limousin, which takes its source close to the village of Pétillat, the commune of Peyrabout in the department of Creuse, and is thrown in the Creuse river close of "la Roche-Posay" in the department of Vienne, after a way of almost 200 kilometers. It crosses remarkable canyons in granitic landscapes, downstream from "Les Portes de l'Enfer", "The Hell Doors” to Lathus in Vienne.

Montmorillon is a french commune, located in the department of Vienne of the Poitou-Charentes area, populated of 6898 Montmorillonnais in 1999, divided on 57 km², that is to say 121 hab./km².

Of medieval origin, Montmorillon proposes to the visitors a broad inheritance, made of houses, private mansions, chapels, churches etc…

The novelist Régine Deforges in is originating. She took part in the creation of the biennial living room of the book of Montmorillon. She is also at the origin of the idea of the City of the Writing and the trades of the book, unique in France, following the example of other foreign cities.

Régine Deforges, French writer born on August 15th, 1935 in Montmorillon, adopts a very free tone, to defend the women's right to only assume itself, including in their sexuality.

She published in 1981 "La Bicyclette Bleue", "The Blue Bicycle", first volume of a trilogy which also understands “101 avenue Henri Martin” and "le diable en rit encore".
She republished under the title “Irene”, “Le Con d'Irène”, erotic novel of Louis Aragon clandestinely published in 1928. the book was seized for its erotic contents!…

Bonjour Joel ,
Un très beau cadrage dans ce format panoramique pour y inclure l'église , le pont , et les jolies fleurs à droite , grâce à un point de vue bien choisi . Et un superbe ciel pour couronner le tout .
Bravo

Hello Joël,
This town figures in my list of places to visit but it's a bit of a trek from where I live and I haven't got round to it yet. Your picture should help spur me on. A nicely lit well balanced composition with a well chosen point of view. The vegetation in the foreground adds a nice splash of colour and counter-balances the massive church. Very good colours and sharpness.

Pierre

Hi Joel,
The way you have composed this picture is very good. The low POV sort of improves the grandness of both the bridge and the church. I like the inclusion of the flowers to the right. Too many beautiful places in France...
Kind regards
Gunnar

Completement beau, de gauche a droite. La photo inspirative et le format qui engage la concentration sur le sujet. Un peu de fleurs c'est mignon. Grand merci Joel,

Branko

Hi,
you made a great panorama view, with great natural colors and great arhitecture. Your point of view is very nice. I like a lot this building. And the note is very helpfull.
Best regards

Hi Joel,
Beautiful diagonal photo across the river.
I like how you placed the flowers in the lower right and the church in the upper left. The line created by that crosses the bridge.
Very nice compo with good colors.
Well done!
