Frederiksborg Slot III

Here's my fourth picture in the little series of Frederiksborg Slot in Hillerød. This time the reflection of the biggest tower as well as the west-wing.
My other picture of this castle:
Frederiksborg Slot I
Frederiksborg Slot II
Frederiksborg Slotskirke

Frederiksborg Slot is located on three small islands in Slotsøen (Castle Lake). It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV (1577-1648). It is the largest renaissance castle in Scandinavia. The first parts were built by King Frederik II (1534-1588), Christian's father, and date back to 1560. Frederik II gave the castle also its name. However most of the current castle was built between 1602-1620 by Christian IV and designed by the Dutch architects Hans and Lorents van Steenwinckel. The castle is built in Dutch Renaissance-style, just as many other buildings in Copenhagen, that date back to Christian IV's time, like Børsen (Stock Exchange) and Rosenborg Slot.

After Christian IV's death, the castle was mainly used for ceremonies, especially to crown the Danish Monarchs. In 1720 Freden i Frederiksborg (Treaty of Frederiksborg) was signed here, that ended Den store nordiske krig (Great Northern War, 1700-1721), between Denmark-Norway and Sweden.
Nowadays the castle is used as a museum, Frederiksborgmuseet (The Frederiksborg Museum) or Det Nationalhistoriske Museum (Museum of National History). This museum was founded in 1878 by brewer J.C. Jacobsen of the Carlsberg Breweries, who also funded the reconstruction of the castle after a large fire in 1859.

In the WS I posted a rotated version.

I hope you like this shot too! :-)

Very good relfection Lars. Good timing with the lighting on the building too. I love the colors!

Hej Lars,
Very nice composition and reflection, it almost looks like a painting. I like the beautiful warm tones of the castle which stand in strong contrast to the deep blue colour of the water/sky. Well seen and done!

Regards, Christian

Beste Lars,
Mooi gedaan Lars.
Groeten,
John.

Hi Lars, A creative angle to view the architecture. Nice colors view through the reflections. The sunlight and shadow contrast provide a nice effect. A well seen and well taken picture.

Lars,

Really nice capture. Although a very simple shot you made it very interesting by using the reflection of the water. There is just enough disturbance in the water to tell it is a reflection without hurting the overall quality of the shot. Great work.

Bonsoir mon ami Lars,
J'aime beaucoup.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hi Lars - amazing reflection, I really like the deep colours and just the right amount of water distortion, excellent work.

Fantastic reflection image with wonderful light. The rotated version is interesting too as the bits in the water look like stars in the sky. Well done
Kath

Hi Lars
I like this framing of the reflection. It gives a very textured look. The light and contrasts are great. Pretty blue of the sky too.
Nikki

An excellent reflection of this magnificent monument, Lars; the perspective and DOF are very good and the photo has great impact. Good work!

Hey Lars. Good idea focusing the shot entirely on the water. You could almost rotate this upside down and we'd never know the difference! What clarity and focus. Good job Lars!

God jul
Jeppe

Lars, this is a wonderful reflection. Somehow the water makes the colours even richer. Maybe it has a polarising effect. Beautiful.

Hi Lars,
Magnificent reflections. Good contrast between the castle and the water, and all in seemingly perfect proportions. The integrity of the castle is maintained. Very well done, Lars.
John

Merry Chritmas!

Beautiful reflections and light...
Simple but so effective composition.
Good dof too.

A nice reversed architecture and the composition by the water effect is beautiful, looking like a "tableau".
Compliments also for the complete framing of the architectural element.

Bonjour Lars

Hello Lars
A water puddle pool on the ground or a river can give an excellent composition as it is the case here.
I appreciate much.
Merry Christmas.

Hej Lars,
This an excellent reflection shot of this magnific building. It has a clear image, where we can apreciate all the details on the façade, with the nice distortion of the image, that makes it a more artistic approach, which is enhanced by the up side down image. We can look to other details of the image, besides the regular shape of this fine example of architecture. Congratulations!
Have a good weekend,
Hilsner,
Ricardo

Bonsoir Lars,

Excellente composition !

Nice to see the world upside down sometimes, especially when the sky is so blue. This is again a very nice reflexion.

All the best,

Emmanuel
