Century Reflections

I continue with my ...-Reflections-series (see below for the other pictures), today with the reflections of a whole century. I think that needs some explanation. On the picture you can see Københavns Rådhus (City Hall of Copenhagen) reflected in the building of Dansk Industri (Danish Industry). And exactly today the city hall of Copenhagen has its birthday and is now 100 years old. That's why you can see a century reflected in those windows.

Københavns Rådhus is a big building located at Rådhuspladsen in the heart of the city. It was designed by Martin Nyrop and built from 1892 to 1905. On 12 September 1905 the city hall was put into use officially. The tower of the city hall is one of the tallest buildings in Copenhagen: 105m and the architect got inspiration for the tower from the city hall of Siena, Italy.
Last weekend and this week are a lot of festivities because of the city hall's birthday.

I hope you like those reflections and join the celebrations!

Hi Lars,
Good composition. Very interesting reflections. There are two different kinds of glass. Nice colours.
Greetings,
Leonor

105m?! Never realized that it was so tall when I was there. Well, it was dark, so I couldn't see.
A good idea and a good note. We can see clearly the colours of the city hall and the colours of the glass (there are two types, as leonorkunh said).
What is inside the building with glass?

Hi Lars, nice composition and reflections and a nice contrast between modern and old architecture. Originaly and differently perspective highlighting the 100th anniversary of the Rådhuset. Well seen and done!

Regards

Bonsoir Lars,
Philippe

Oh, I like it very much, Lars. This is a very imaginative way to show us a building. I like the effect of cubist painting or puzzle due to several angles of reflection. We have to re-build this edifice in our head. The two rows of lights are nice but I like more the tower and the flag. The danish flag is a photogenic one.
I think though that the picture seems underexposed and it could gain with more light. If, with Photoshop, you select Adjust->Levels you will see that the histogram is concentrated on the left side. Just moving the right cursor under the histogram to the end of it, you will see more light. Of course, the WS I made is only an option to consider and only, especially in this case, a matter of taste.

Hi Lars - great to see your now working as our local freelance reporter ;-)))

I wasen't aware of this birthday before I saw your fine photo. A very fine and artist photo giving us the tower as mosaic of reflections - thanks Lars for this and the note to give us its history as well.

Dag Lars,
Groeten,
John

Hoi Lars,
A beautiful reflection, very well spotted and captured.I like the colors here a lot,the diagonal row of lamps in the lower part is a great detail.
Greetings,
hermann

Hej Lars

Well done
Hälsningar

Hi Lars, A well seen and a well captured picture. The reflections and the see through in the building are impressive. Good contrast and nice shot.

Hi Lars!
I see that you like photographing such reflections, and you make it great. Very original picture from a interesting City Hall. I like your composition, colors and sharpness. Well done.
Regards.

Hi Lars,
Great architectural shot, the contrast between the psotodern glass pannels and the old tower reflection are great.
A+
Daniel

groet Rob

Hi Lars.
Interesting picture, very good reflection. Good colours and composition.
I was in Copenhagen 5 weeks ago and no doubt that this building is impressive. The city is just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing.

I love the way these reflections are distorted. The flag and the lights are a bonus. Well spotted

Hi Lars,
A well composed and colourful shot. You have superbly captured this wonderful reflection, which is most entrancing. The flag and also the rows of saucer shaped lights add a surreal dimension to the scene. Well cropped and framed. Great work.
John

Hi Lars,
Another interesting reflection. I like the way you use the interior lighting to direct our attention to the top and the vertical blinds does give a beautiful effect. Including the flag is also a good idea as it identifies the origin of the building and place. Beautiful composition!!! Regards.

Hej Lars,
Very interesting note about this bulding, beeing inspired by the well known tower in Siena and I love the title.
Continuing the series of your reflections, this is another fine example, with the distortion of the 'century' desfragmented all over the mirror faįade. What I like more is the round ceiling lights on the image, as a queue of traffic UFO's. Really nice effect!
Thanks a lot for sharing,
Hilsner,
Ricardo

Hello Lars

Bien vu !
Jacques

Interesting use of the reflexion to mix the old building with the new one. But in terms of reflexion, I also like the two rows of lights (or perhaps it is not a reflexion, but just a view behind the glass...).

All the best,

Emmanuel
