Small talk in Sarajevo

There are so many comparisons that spring to mind, the first being would I ever have seen anyone doing their homework on the steps of our church, would they leave their shoes on the steps, would other people be unaware of them ... well, maybe a young romantic couple!
It's a daily life situation which throws up completely different circumstances to those experienced in other parts of the world.
I like the richness of what occurs and wish everyone could just accept differences without feeling threatened, or a need to change everything.
Have a good day,

Well taken this very interesting daily life image. I like the contrast between the young couple in the foreground and the boys studiously doing their homework. Then we have the two men stood praying, one brightly clothed, the other seen in silhouette. Excellent realisation.

Bonjour, cher Gert,
Très bon sujet portant sur la conversation, le lecteur est libre de laisser vagabonder son imagination en fonction de ce qu'il ressent à travers la prise de vue.
Les deux personnages au premier plan sont très bien placés également.

Very nice two photographs from Sarajevo.
This part of the Balkans, where the Ottoman Empire ruled for 600 years has taken a lot from the Turks and so beautiful mosque.
In Bosnia, a large part of the population converted to Islam to by us in Serbia, most of the population remained orthodox faith.
Your photos have a very nice detail and a text you have written is very interesting
Excellent photo work.

Hi Gert. Things are back to normal (if one can use that term for the Balkans). I wonder how badly damaged it was for mosques and churches (and occasional synagogue) came down like houses of cards at the time when men lost their heads figuratevly and literally speaking. Regards. Klaudio.

The different is very big between the clothing of the lady before the Mosque, and Muslim ladies to the entrance.
Pleasant panoramic view about the stairway and leaves of the tree.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect photographed.
Very well done, TFS.

J'aime beaucoup cette photo . Le moment est parfaitement saisi et comme ce n'est pas une photo faite par téléphone il y a plus de recherche dans la pose et la prise.

Good afternoon Gert,
The lady posing for a photo did not distract those guys at the mosque entrance, and there is a great different from the main picture ambiance to the one in the WS with the ladies section.
The big marble stone the lady leaned upon is an eyes catching object.
My best regards,

A very nice photo with a lot of action, not only a small talk but also a photo session and, I think, a scene of praying, very well captured

Sarajevo seems peaceful again. I highly estimate that, my elder son has been there to shoot a documentary on the role of women in the Bosnian wars on behalf of Bavarian TV, so I know the difference from what he told and showed us.

A good daily life scene outside this Sarajevo mosque. I rather liked the city in 2015 when I was there. The fg tourists add another layer to the composition. Tfs!

I really like this photo, it breathes such a calm atmosphere with the people enjoying some time off, quietly talking to each other in the background, doing some last minute homework. The couple in the foreground is a great inclusion too.

The image conveys a relaxed and quiet feeling, in the courtyard of this mosque, of powerful columns, in the same while a group chat quietly seated, the couple of tourists, captures the photo of his moment.
Sharpness, lighting and color, are perfectly accomplished.
Well done. I like.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.

Even if you classified this as small talk, this photo tells and shows a lot more: the tourist in the fg represent the 'modern World' (at least they are not taking selfies), and the men, probably speaking about religious topics, represent the 'old world'.
The lights are also very good, as the young couple is well illuminated, while the men remain in slight shadow.

l'uomo con la fotocamera e la sua fidanzata sembrano completamente indifferenti a ciò che succede poco distante, i loro interessi sono molto più banali e questo si contrappone alla scena principale.
Shame on you...you say this is the finest mosque from the Ottoman rule in Bosnia/Herzegovina and you don't show it to us!!!! Gert!
I'm just bugging ya :)
But seriously, i want to see it now :)
At first glance its sort of funny to see the man on the far right just standing infront of the wall, but I understand now what's going on.
I'm more curious as to what's going on in the fg.
I wonder if they're locals or tourists, the people in the bg look like locals.
probably the talk is very quiet, in a whispered tone.
interesting layout with a clear fg/bg.

Here is another one of those "Who photographs the photographers?" In fact, I just made a theme with that name and this will be the first photo I add to that theme. It's another photo that makes me want to visit the Balkans.

Hi Gert, I was in Sarajevo with my mother in memorable 1968. My first encounter with the Muslim culture. The women still wore the Turkish trousers, the cemeteries and mosques, I was fascinated. What a pity I have no pictures. The old bridge in Mostar was still old.
Nice scene near the mosque (I would like to see a bit of this old mosque too, in WS for instance, but you were always interested mainly in people ), the shoes are neatly placed on the steps. Nice blond girl.

Nice to see a photo from Bosnia. Both this and the WS show a subtle diversity within one culture, especially the ladies' section with several types of attire. I noticed that when I was there 4 years ago.
I love the Balkans, among all for that mixture of Slavic, post-Soviet and deeply traditional/religious, be it Muslim or Christian. Looking at this scene I can also imagine the low voices flowing into the warm air (even though, as you know, I visited Sarajevo in the middle of winter...).
Have a nice weekend

En fin ögonblicksbild från verkligheten. Det är ju tydligt vad det närmaste paret gör. Männen med ryggen mot kameran bidrar ju också till innehållet.

You have captured a lot of action in your photo, the couple taking a picture, the students doinf their homeworks and the rest praying. I am suprise that the people praying are not offended by the actions of the other people near the mosque. Well done, have a nice dya.
