A street view with Saint Jacobs church in background.

History Goderickx Convent
In 1383, Margaretha Rym, widow of Everaart Goderickx, built a house for seven poor widows in the Geerwijnstraat. For example, the foundation is notified in the oldest remaining document, which dates from 1473.
In 1587 the derelict convent was sold and with the proceeds in 1589 a property was bought on the corner of the Moerstraat and the Geerwynstraat, which was converted for the benefit of the widows who lived in the former house of God.
Knight Floris van den Eeckhoudt, husband of Adriana Rym, bailiff of Bruges and guardian of the church of God, had in the 1630s again carry out work. The end was commemorated in 1634 with a memorial stone in the small chapel. His wife donated a painting for this chapel, the 'Adoration of the Shepherds', which still belongs to the art collection of the OCMW.
After having become the property of the Committee of Civil Aliens in French times, the sale of the capital was put in place in 1808, but in the end this did not happen.
In the early twentieth century, in 1949, in 1970 and in the beginning of the twenty-first century, restoration, restoration and modernization works were carried out.

The monument is not legally protected until now

I hope you can enjoy.

Hallo John,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hallo John,

A pleasant diffused light with impeccable sharpness and excellent pastel colours. The street offers linear perspective and the convent provides a good focal point. Tfs!

Ciao John, great view of beautiful convent, excellent perspective, good clarity, splendid light and wonderful colors very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello John,
This street looks fairly ordinary, but there are some beauties among the buildings we see, and of course the church is a remarkable eye-catcher in the background. Exposure and sharpness are excellent, and maybe the pleasantly mild colours are a result of the soothing effect of the clouds.
Kind regards,

Hello John,

Ciao John

Hello dear John and have a nice time
and a happy new day and new week

Hello John, This old convent is in rather simple and small house. Nice towers of the church. Lovely composition from Bruges street.
Have a nice week

Hi John,

The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the houses and of the church. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello John,
What a charming narrow street with interesting buildings along it. I like the textures of the brick and the whitewashed brick structures.

Bonjour, cher ami John,

Hi John,
Nice perspective with the view of the street, beautiful architecture, well presented, tfs.

Hello John
Wouldn't it be for the car, this picture could have taken in the last century. A tranquille and serene scene with the church dominating the old houses around it.
have a great time

Hi John
An eye candy view of this picturesque old town, beautifully aged and weathered properties as the church rises high grabbing the eyes. The vehicle adds a nice counterpoint of contrast. Nice capture, Congrats
Best regards

Bonjour John,

Quelle belle petite rue.

Nice presentation.

Hi Bonjour dear John

Sorry for so long no contact with you, I miss you so much, but I came back.

I remaind that your country is full of tasty and attractive atmosohere. I think that Japan is wood sulture but Europe is stone culture, we cannot see such thick and tatsy stone architecture in Japan. As usual so wonderful framewrok and so ideal compsoition.

All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hi John,
quite an original angle at this attractive structure -you have captured it in the context of the street in the foreground. Parkometer and the street signs add a daily life touch to the scene.
Very well seen and captured,

mooi straatje fraaie compositie John,

Hi John
I somehow missed this one in your gallery, but at least I'm getting to it now. look at all the stone, and compare it to the style of the building on the right....that stone is so much more charming and picturesque. the weather may not have been the greatest, but the overall scene is still very attractive with lots of history and visual intrigue. cheers
