Tournai - Flight over the Grand-Place

No, I didn’t fly over the Grand-Place of Tournai and this isn’t a drone picture!

On my previous photo you could see the oldest belfry in Belgium that is 72 meters in height.
When you climb its 257 steps you get this view and also the ones in the WS.

The belfry has been built at the end of the 12th century.

The church at the end of the market square (behind the stage) is the Église Saint-Quentin.
Its nave dates also back to the end of the 12th century.

Hallo Paul,

Pierre

Hi Paul
love it, I always make sure I climb towers in cities. When I was in Poland (forget the city name), i once climbed the tower 3 times in 2 days, and paid each time hahaha

great views, caught my attention right away for sure.
awesome that it leads to the top of the frame with that building facing us directly. Fine ws photos as well. glad you climbed up, well worth it. cheers
Craig

Hello dear Paul and have a nice tie
and a happy weekend
greetings for the inspiration and the
right timing you captured the red roofs
perfectly from the bell tower I suppose
showing so many details from Tournai
flight over the Grand Palace
the truth is that thhe
red roofs create a fantastic eyecatching
effect
regards

Great view from the top of the Belfry, Paul.
There was action on the big and wide road, restaurants and cafe's were full with people, and clearly shown the gathering on the far side stage.
Also, good view of the flat-landscape till far as the eyes can see.
Have a nice friday,
Ike

Bonjour, cher Paul,
Merci pour ces vues qui donnent le vertige;
Amitiés.
Philippe

Salut Paul,

Hello Paul, I saw quite a lot while in Belgium but a pity I haven't visited Tournai. I see it is very beautiful and interesting town. It was well worth the effort to climb these 257 steps. Fantastic view, it looks really like made with the drone. spectacular composition, awesome sharpness. Such a wide street and a big square and without the cars or parking. Fantastic! I like it very much.

Have a nice day

Malgo

Hello,
Spectacular panoramic view of the square. The city looks great, I hope you had a great time there.

Bonjour Paul,

Hello Paul,

I seriously wondered if you had bought a drone!
I love to see places from unusual viewpoints and this shot works very well, providing a strong guide line from the f/g which then splits to offer two lines of exit. I followed the curve and went left initially; I wonder how many people chose the opposite exit first!
The terracotta roofs make this a warm and welcoming scene and we can easily appreciate the alfresco mood on this day.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Dag paul,

Uw panorama beeld is echt heel mooi gemaakt
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

Prettige dag verder,
John.

Hello, Paul!

This is a great POV to show the city from above, and it really seems to be taken from an airplane! The orange roofs give more colors and make the image even more beautiful, and the people down there look like little ants. Wonderful photo, taken with excellent light and sharpness!

Hello Paul, excellent view of this interesting square of the beautiful city, very well captured with a great pov in this very good and beautiful photo. An interesting image with interesting buildings, very good sharpness, depth and quality. A great job perfectly done, my congratulations, my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.

Hello Paul,

I took a similar shot from Verona Tower overlooking the piazza. God to see the temporary stage and people out enjoying the day and entertainment. Tfs!

I like such photos from above very much, you have an overview of the city and all details look differently, a very good photo, my compliments
Ryszard

Hello Paul,
I have a lot of similar photos of brick roofs from above from my latest short journey, but mine didn't look quite as neat and carefully maintained. The red roofs form a nice frame around the grey square where obviously nobody needs to stay hungry or thirsty. The church at the far end is quite beautiful. Tournai is a fairly anonymous place to me, not featured on TE as frequently as many other Belgian cities. Maybe that is a very good reason for a visit.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Paul

Hello Paul.
Wow ...... superb perspective of the Grand Place of Tournai, from the Belfry, I loved this city when I visited it, but I did not climb the 257 steps and I lost this great perspective.
Colorful, sharpness and luminosity are captured efficiently.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good day.
Warm greetings.
Luis.

P.S. I regret not having contrasted Vilnius University's information about its antiquity, which appears in the internet information, now I see what
absurd of it, when precisely this year the University of Salamanca here in Spain is celebrating its 800th anniversary, since it was founded in 1218.

Hi Paul,
your high point of view from the belfry offers us a breathtaking panorama at bird-view over the city.
The old architecture of the buildings, the huge market square, the deep perspective, the green landscape in background, and the great sharpness of the image, create a very beautiful composition.
It's an excellent work, my friend.
Kind regards,
Josep
P.S: thanks a lot for your kind words about my recovery.

Dag Paul
Groet Rob

Hello Paul,
I like all the orange roofs, and how tiny everything looks below. The warm sunlight brings out the different hues, and some nice shadows, too. Great POV in this one.
