After the warm weather of the last days get we much clouds and ten degrees cooler than yesterday.
My bike trip brought me to Sint Laureins 10 km of my home.

Along the canal I saw the red poppies a great symbolic in Flemish Belgium, I took a picture notwithstanding the cloudy sky.

Symbolism:

Previously, it was thought that the plant grew at the place where someone was killed and that the blood was absorbed by the plant and stored in the petals. Therefore, it was thought that this was the cause of the many poppies on the battlefield. In fact, the cause causes the seeds to germinate only when exposed to light. As the battlefield was wrapped around, the seeds came to light and germinated.
The most neutral and internationally scattered symbol for the Allied soldiers in the First World War on the Iron, is the poppy. The American Moina Belle Michael decided in 1918, after the ceasefire, always wearing a poppy. Other women took over this and went selling the flowers. The proceeds went to the widows and children of the fallen soldiers and to invalid soldiers. In France, this was followed in 1921 and in England in 1922.

In Britain, the poppy as a "Remembrance poppy" has become a symbol for all sacked soldiers. The nonprofit organization concerned with war victims and their relatives is called Poppy Appeal.

john hello my friend..very pleasing scene and well thought out POV! love it! tfs dale

Hello John,
As we don't see much of the sky anyway it doesn't matter if it was cloudy. This photo has so much else to offer. Trees nicely reflected in the narrow canal, the beautiful red poppies (perhaps my favorite flowers) and the great depth created by the trees, as well as the fine diagonals.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao John, lovely composition with a lot of poppies, excellent clarity, great perspective, beautiful reflections, wonderful natural colors and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi John,
This may be the greenest of your canal side views. Strong perspective showing the canal and lines of trees. Bright red poppies are of course welcome highlights.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow...maar gelukkig is dit een vreedzamere scène. Mooie variatie op dit altijd boeiend onderwerp, John.

Groetjes

Dobro vece.
Lep pogled, interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Dobar rad i kompozicija, lepo pokazano, dobar kontrast i perspektiva, lepe boje. Lepi crveni makovi i drvece na obali kanala, lep refleks na vodi i kuce.
Dobar tekst o tehnici i elementima snimka.
Prijatno vece i mirna noc, sve najbolje.
Paja.

Good evening.
Nice view, interesting and good text ...
Good work and compositions, beautifully demonstrated, good contrast and perspective, beautiful color. Beautiful red poppies and trees on the canal bank, a nice reflection on the water and the house.
Good article about the technique and the elements of the image.
Good evening and peaceful night, all the best.

Hallo John,
Heel mooi gedaan!
Vele groeten, Paul

Bonsoir, cher ami John,
Une bien belle réussite de cadrage mettant en valeur ce canal bordé de végétation où se mêle de jolis coquelicots formant de superbes taches de couleur.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hello John,

your photo has much to offer, including your explanation.

"Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind?" And for our British friends: "Where have all the flowers gone?"

Regards from Rhineland
Sven

Hello John, a classic view looking along the canal with the regularly spaced trees and their reflections.
The poppies add extra colour and denote the time of year.
Poppies, and for lots of other people, are one of my favourite flowers.
An interesting note, thank you.
Regards Jean.

What a beautiful sight John. I have not seen poppies in the wild in such numbers since I left my country of birth as a boy. Here they stand out vividly against all that green. Great depth to the image. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi John,

The length of the canal is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the poppies. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hi dear John

Hi John
So evocative nature beauty the way you have arranged this, love the colours and the regimented rows of trees used to frame the view leading us all the way into the full depth. Dotted of vivid reds and water reflections lend this its punchy colours that just jump out at you with lovely glimpse of mist. What else can you ask for!! Congrats
Best wishes

Good morning John,
A spectacular view along the canal. The wild flowers are a plus to the scene. Well taken.

Hello John,
Interesting view of this place, nice scene.
I like amazing composition here.
A good point of view, excellent perspective and depth.
Fine presentation.

Hello John,

A beautifully composed photograph of canal and trees and reflections!
I love how the canal begins at the corner and ends at a strong vanishing point!
The poppies add colour and vibrancy, as do the red roofs peeping between the trees.

You have been able to mainly exclude the sky so it has little impact.

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hallo John,
Prachtige foto van deze kaarsrechte vaart. Het groene gras wordt aan deze kant heel mooi aangevuld met de vele rode stippen van de klaprozen. Een prachtige lentefoto.
Lars

Good evening John,
You trademark photo-style with yet another beautiful canal view.
Red poppies and water reflection are complementary to a perfect DOF and clear sight along the banks of the canal.
My best regards,
Ike

Hello John,

Hello John,

Nice repetition of the red poppies and the diagonal canal adds dynamism. Good repetition also of the evenly spaced trees on the far shore. Nice reflections in the water and the bg houses add layering and depth. Tfs!

Hello John,

very fine composition to show this wonderful view alaong the channel and naturally the poppies are adding a great plus to your shot. Very fine contribution to TE.TFS.

A fine shot once more John. Lovely to see the poppies, but strange how they're only on one side of the water, nature can be mysterious...

Dag John OUTSTANDING perspective, for shure, and very romantic natural decor in which the poppies are 'in the limelight' of your setup as they compose with the red roofs a nice colorful visual balance to this spring scenery! Groeten

All the different diagonals make this picture very attractive. The eyes literally are drawn to the background. The red poppies here are the "cherry on the cake". I like this one very much!
Another proof that a blue sky and sunlight aren't necessary for a good photo!
Have a nice weekend, John! ... and thank you for the informative note!
