Three weeks ago I was in Kortrijk, special on photo hunt, the “Broeltowers” are real the proud of the city.
One side has a nice stroll path and bike path, one of my pictures will you see people make stroll around the city.

I place a second picture in workshop, I wait on you reactions.

Second picture horizontal

Broel Towers
These medieval towers are the last remaining vestiges of the old city fortifications. The southern tower, or Speyetoren (± 1385), was part of the ramparts of the Count's castle while the northern tower, or Ingelborchtoren (± 1413), was built to defend the city by means of primitive artillery equipment.
Only open during certain festivities. During the year only accessible with a guide.

Hi John,
Although these towers would have had a very serious purpose, today they are like something from a fairytale. I really like this view, it really is magical. Great light and placement of everything in the frame.
Cheers
Noel

Hi John,

The length of the river or the canal is giving depth to the composition. The presence of the people is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the towers and of the bridge. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Well captured perspective, John.
The bridge and the two similar looking towers on either side of the bridge makes for a well balanced composition. Wonderful clarity and sharpness. The greenery and the wonderful blue sky with lovely grey and white clouds is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi John
haha...i have to be honest, i think i enjoy the WS photo more! but its all personal choice.
and each photo is very good.
I chose the WS photo because it makes a stronger visual impact.
but others may choose this one because its a more people-friendly version.

lovely subject all around, its mixing old times with new modern times.
cheers
Craig

Hello John,
It's a very fine composition, elegantly balanced and with excellent light and colours. The towers are beautiful buildings, full of charming character. I like both photos but I prefer this one, mainly because of the people seen here.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John, a good lead in line with the pavement and bollards taking us straight to the bridge.
The towers are beautiful and look in good condition.I like the way that the sunlight is shining on the conical roofs emphasising their shape.
The people in shot add extra interest to your scene.
Lovely natural colours.
Regards Jean.

Hi John
What an interesting medieval towers seen from this pov. You have done a good job here with the sky does make the buildings stand out really well. Like the light falling on the stonework and also the present of the people. Well captured, Congrats

Dear John Sir,

Superb twin towers of Belgium. I like the clarity which is superb and the composition is too nice. The couple in the left is adding beauty to this image.

Hello John,

Both picture, this one and in WS, are beautiful. Wonderful thick round towers, guarding this old bridge with the statue. Nice stroll along the river. The railing gives nice depth. Excellent colours, pleasant holiday mood. your hunt was successful. :)

Hello John,

Two stunning photographs Kortrijk.
You had a beautiful day for your visit, reflected in the good light and the summer clothing worn by the people.
I would have struggled to choose which one to use as my main post, for each has its own high quality. The clarity is superb with good leads and a fine sense of perspective.

Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
The river offers an effective lead-line towards the bridge guarded by its massive towers. The passers-by enliven the scene and provide scale. The lovely sky makes an agreeable backdrop to the whole. Good choice of the square format resulting in a pleasingly balanced composition. Top class technical quality as ever. Have a pleasant weekend.

A marvelous view onto the two imposing towers from the WS and this photo, John.
Those “Broeltowers" looks well restore and kept through time, fine clear day for taking photo of this kind.
My best regards,
Ike

Hello John,

A very interesting note you have written as well as showing us two beautiful photographs of these lovely towers at Kortrijk.

Both photographs are excellent but I think I prefer your main photograph on account of its pleasing square format and the fact that it clearly shows people enjoying a walk along the footpath beside the water. But the light and colours in both pictures are delightful, your exposures perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

Beautiful!

Kind Regards,

John.

Hello John! Wonderful bridge, amazing twin towers. Fine woman and nice pair. Good point of view. Good composition. Perfect quality. Nice colours. Regards!

Bonjour John,

Bon samedi

Hallo John!
Both photos are worth seeing but I like this one better , especially because of the point of view including these people and the river side wall which leads the eyes to the wonderful towers. Also the green trees here add a lot to the composition - and there's only one modern building visible.
Are the roofs made out of slate or sheet metal ?
Greetings fro ;-) warm and sticky Westphalia!
Have a nice weekend!

Both are nice John, but this one is a little tilted to the right?

Hallo John,
Groeten,
Lars

Hello John,
a very interesting site within the urban scenery, I like the clear and straightforward presentation through this composition that gives us a glimpse of the wider setting. The people seem to add interest and strengthen the perspective. Although the angle of the light was difficult to handle, you achieved superb definition and colours both in the scenery and in the sky. The alternative composition in the workshop is very appealing too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
Ourania

Hello, John!

It seems to be a very pleasant place for a walk and, of course, for many photos! The two towers by the bridge side are beautiful and were captured with very good light, colors and sharpness! Wonderful composition! Well done!

Hello John,

I like your contribution to TE here very much. I prefer the wider view because we can observe in this panoramic view more details and I think that the shot is perfectly balanced with the wider view. TFS.

Dag John
You show with elegant symmetry the Broeltorens and the beautiful short bridge over the river Leie, itself decorated by the Standbeeld van Johannes Nepomucenus standing on top
The whole picture depicts an interesting impression of a voyage back in time. Admirable picture quality as usual!
Met vriendelijke groeten.

Simple and neat. The two towers create a very nice composition and the perspective gives value to the bridge and the sidewalk by the river. All with well balanced colors and elements. Good work, congratulations!

Beautiful river scene! I always wanted to take the canal trip around Europe, maybe someday. Good pov showing those two towers with good lighting and sharp details. Very well done, tfs.

Hi John,
beautiful spot, I like very much the repeated motif of the two towers and they have such a nice shape.
People may have different preferences: I like better the workshop photo with no people and with a more emphasized sky -the clouds are quite enhanced over there. But people walking the street add a lovely touch too so I can imaging many people would prefer this one here.
Excellent work, both of them,
M

Howdy John,

Good image stimulus to visit the Broel Towers in person, strolling the countryside and a guided tour.
And it appears the banks of the stream return to Nature beyond the towers, dense trees instead of the concrete wall bank in the foreground.

Hello dear John.
The pride of Kortrijk - the 2 towers are indeed a beautiful motive and well worth a hunt. I too sometimes go on expeditions to make photos of something I decided earlier.
other times I just let the motives find me.
The photo is as always good craftsmansship and could be used in a public brochure.
Cheers and have a fine evening

Ciao John

Hi John,

The bridge is well positioned towards the back near the vanishing point and the canal adds strong lead in lines and linear perspective. Good sharpness and the people provide scale and animate the scene. Nice symmetry between the 2 towers. Tfs.

Dear John,

I examined both photos. I think I prefer this one 51-49% over the one you put in the workshop. Both are excellent. The one in the workshop has the more conventional rectangular format, which I like. But this one shows a little more of the life surrounding the beautiful area in Kortrijk, with its iconic towers, and the pedestrians. Even in a small country you have so much to see. Your note is superb as usual.

Warmest regards and have a good weekend, John.

Bulent

Hallo John,
Technisch alles weer heel perfect.
Vele groeten,
Paul
