Chamundi Hill - Forewarned is forearmed

Time for a slightly funnier picture.
I have noticed that cows that appear somewhere on one of my photos detach reactions.
This cow had stuck her head through the fences but for the ideal picture I wasn’t fast enough.

Maybe a funny warning sign about the monkeys. But it is so true.
Monkeys can be dangerous when they see food or suspect that it can be found in for example a backpack.

In their temples Hindus often offer fruit and/or flowers. These offerings can be bought outside the temple.
But these are quite dangerous moments. In Hampi I saw how a small monkey very quickly climbed up the legs and body of a man to grab the fruit that he held in a bowl above his head.
With resisting, the apes can bite or scratch.

Who likes to see a human presence, there are two workshops added.
They show some smaller stalls of offerings.
All three pictures are taken outside the famous Sri Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hill in the vicinity of Mysore.

Bonjour, cher Paul,

Hello Paul,

I also was in the Chamundi Hill.
For me, the monkeys at large, and other exotic animals as well, are always a great joy to see. I do not remember where it is, somewhere in India, that the monkeys have their temple. Also in Zhangjiajie in China there are bold monkey stealing bags with food and exploring bins/
Nice also the Workshop pictures with offerings. I see that the women are traditionally dressed still but the guys prefer jeans.
Have a nice day

MAlgo

Hello Paul,

Your warning is well founded and the cow does look as if it is about to read the sign. I remember how happy I was to be inside my car during a visit to a 'Wildlife Safari Park' when the monkeys came swinging on the radio aerial and windscreen wipers! It must dangerous to withhold food at such close quarters!
You w/s photographs are delightful!
I loved to see how artistically the food had been presented.
There is no doubt that India is full of colour!

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Paul,
Monkeys may look cute from a distance, but I really hate when they are running around freely among people. I have had some rather unpleasant experiences of monkeys getting too close and acting aggressively. The Indian cows are so much more gentle. It's an amusing photo and the most original choice for main upload today. I was also at Chamundi, so I look forward to the next photos. I know they will make me jealous that I didn't have a digital camera in those days.
Best wishes,
Gert

Bonjour Paul,

Amicalement

Serge

Witaj Paul!
A very interesting picture, a cow and a monkey are impressive.
Curious warning against monkeys.
Good frame and colors.
Warm regards and good weekend.
Krzysztof

Hello Paul,
You would never see a sign in India warn about cows, but monkeys known to grab and steal thisngs from tourists.
Nice applied with the cow looking through at the guy with a strange apparatus...
Good afternoon,
Ike

Monkeys are funny but they are dangerous, indeed, a very nice main photo of the reality in India and photos in WS, a very informative note

Hallo Paul,

Hi Paul,2 beautiful pics of flower sellers close to the temple, but the best is in your main post. Great choice,i remember an attack by monkey to my bag in Sri Lanka, and in Gambia too..eehe...so i agree with you for this choice,an useful warning for the nxt trips of the TE members..ehhee....have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Dag Paul
Goede Pinkster, groet Rob

Hello Paul I always wondered if cows could read! Do you really mean that monkeys can behave as stolen material resellers?!
Spectacular oddity. Thanks for showing. Cheers

Hello Paul,
Ha ha the same told us visiting Cambodia ten years ago...Really these monkeys must be very well educated to stole the belongings from the unsuspecting tourists.

Have a good WE,danos

Dag paul,

Heel mooi foto werk, bedankt.

Hello Paul

The monkeys in Bali are also naughty. And aggressive. One monkey stuck its hand in my camera bag and stole a camera battery. When it tried to eat it it got an electric shock and spat it out, hehehe! I gingerly picked it up and wiped it with a tissue as it was expensive to replace. They also steal water bottles and sunglasses. So the sign is apt. Tfs!

Ciao Paul, fun shoot, fine details, splendid clarity and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Paul

I remember this kind of scene, you should be very cautious with your camera and sun goggles, once they get them, they don't give them back.
Best regards
CLODO

Hi Paul,
I wonder if the monkeys are actually being trained to steal by some people.
In the fairy tale about the Aladdin before he gets the famous lamp he actually has a pet monkey which helps him to steal food in the food markets.
I like very much the inscriptions in exotic alphabets and also the cow surprised me next to the poster with monkey here.
Extraordinary place!!
M
