Mumbai - Is there life without selfies ?

Also India is in the grip of selfies. Just about everywhere I went.
But yes, there is life without selfies ! I am the living proof :)

I couldn’t resist taking a picture of these Sikhs taking a selfie.

On the background the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
The hotel's original building was commissioned by Jamsetji Tata, an Indian pioneer industrialist.
Tata founded what would later become the Tata Group of companies. According to Wikipedia he’s regarded as the legendary ‘Father of Indian Industry’.

The hotel opened its doors to guests on 16 December 1903.
No, I didn’t stay there :) but I did go inside (not into the rooms). The interior is certainly as beautiful as the outside.

Bonjour, cher Paul,

Hello,
Spectacular buildings with attractive decorative lights. Looks like a nice enjoyable atmosphere in front of it. Well seen.

Hello Paul,
I am disappointed that you didn't stay in this hotel (hahaha). I remember that in 2008 there was an terrorist attack there with very many people killed and wounded. As anything to memorize about this tragedy in the hotel?
Splendid evening shot, wonderful illumination. But this crowd of people makes the biggest impression. Was it special occasion or it is always so? Amusing view of these Sikhs taking selfie. We are neighbors today. In my picture people do not take selfie. Even they do not have mobiles. There are still such places in the world,

Bonjour Paul,
Tu as commencé fort avec ta série indienne !

Lars

Hello Paul,
It's quite funny to watch this crowd and the Sikhs taking selfies of their colourful turbans. The evening light is enchanting and of course the hotel provides a very nice background. I have also just been inside the lobby. I suppose I could have stayed there when I was in Bombay on business in 1996, but I preferred a smaller hotel in a less touristy part of the city (it really said Bombay on my flight ticket from Delhi). I think the economy department of my company liked the cheaper bill better.
Kind regards,
Gert

In India too...same all over.

Dag Paul

John

Olá, Paul!

Posso imaginar o quão suntuoso é o interior desse hotel lindíssimo. O exterior é realmente impressionante. As diferenças de tons de púrpura do céu ficou bem interessante, assim como as pessoas e o rapaz tirando a selfie.
Excelente foto!

Bonjour Paul,

Hello Paul,

You can live without selfie sticks, but what is the point in it? :)
Nice observation.

Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Paul, very good picture of this interesting scene of daily life with the beautiful building in the background, very well captured in this interesting image, with good sharpness, light, color and quality. A great job perfectly done, my congratulations, my friend. Thanks for sharing this interesting work.

Good night and happy week.
All the best from the south of Spain.
Angel.

Hi Paul,
This is truely grand colonial era architecture. And obviously in excellent condition in today too. Those details are nicely lit. And foreground presents modern life in crowded Mumbai so well.
Kari

Hello Paul,
I wonder how and when this epidemie of selfportraying will get en end !
Anyhow, this one is an amazing capture from Mumbai taken in blue hour atmosphere.
TFS and best regards

Hello Paul,
really the modern way in our days is to take someone selfie with his grip.An excellent night shot with all these people to enjoy their presentation near one of the landmarks of Mumbai, Taj Mahal Palace. Hotel.
Excellent presentation.

Hello Paul,

Oh, that's a pity, I was hoping that you would be able to give us a complete description of the interior of the Palace Hotel. It is a very beautiful building, certainly in the expansive style of Victoriana. You have controlled the light well to obtain such a fine photograph.
The selfie-taking trend has certainly reached more countries than you would suspect! But, I'm with you, I still have to take my first!

My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hello Paul,

Hello Paul.
A splendid night view of this mythical hotel in the city of Bombay, a true beauty, both exterior and interior, on my first trip more than 30 years ago, I stayed there for two nights, as I see the fever of the selfie, it extends to all sides, of course I do not join it, I never made any.
Good sharpness and optimal lighting, gives great quality to the image.
Well done. I like very much
You have a good day.
Very best regards
Luis.

Salut Paul,

Well people survived just fine in the 90's and earlier without selfies. An impressive blue hour shot with good sharpness and excellent color and saturation. The illuminated bg building steals the show. Tfs!

Hello Paul,
This hotel is beautiful, and it looks like another palace. I like how the corners and top are illuminated. It's interesting to see so many people gathered around, and of course we see the long selfie-stick in the foreground. :-)

Hi Paul, interesting way to show the modern selfie mania on the square in front of the famous hotel, all are crazies for selfie as i can see there too..ehehe..a funny shot made in an excellent quality despite the dark light,i like it! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

It is a wonderful evening scenery with multi colors clothes by the hundreds of people out there and the impressive building illumination, Paul.
But, maybe not many would remember - this hotel was targeted by terrorist on November 2011. While seeing this exceptional take, I just recall that event.
Superbly taken the scene on photo.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello, Paul!

I'm still someone who resists to this kind of selfie, I prefer taking my tripod with me to take photos of myself! The composition is great, with the typical clothes of the people and a beautiful architecture in the background captured with fantastic light! Wonderful job!

hello Paul, very good blue hour photo, the sikhs taking selfies in the fg are very interesting, good control of light and colours
regards
Federico

Hi Paul,
amazing new series. I like the time of the day: the purple hour? The color of the sky is extraordinary!
Architecture so attractive, so elegant and the crowd of people adds so much life in the foreground!
The people add also a very colorful aspect.
Great adventure, fantastic reportage,
M
